In this thrilling short story set in the world of Sarah Fine’s novel Sanctum, Malachi rescues a mysterious girl from one of his own Guards, who’s convinced she’s a Mazikin. Malachi can tell she isn’t, but she’s not an ordinary citizen of the dark city, either. He only knows one thing for sure—she’s dangerous, and to more than just his mission. The captive’s fate is in his hands—will he end her afterlife or save her?

I really loved the idea of getting a view of Malachi's perspective. But this was way too short. There really wasn't any profound new insight from Malachi's perspective that you couldn't already get or infer from his character in the full length books. Sometimes the short stories that accompany a series really add something unique, but for me, this wasn't one of them. Still, I was glad to read it, and I'm hoping the author will continue the series in full length books that will continue to follow the saga.Product details

Captive A Guard Tale from Malachi Perspective Guards of the Shadowlands eBook Sarah Fine Reviews
A very quick read that picks up where Malachi is taking out Mazakin just before he meets Lela. It really makes no difference to the series whether you read it or not.
Definitely want to read this after the third book if the trilogy. It was a really fast book to read, but showed a side of Malachi that was different. Good read!
What a great series! So now I'm ready for the movie! Let's put some film to this series! Malachi was awesome and I swear I could see every bit of beautiful tidbit you gave us! Wow! What a series! I loved it!
Not really necessary to understand what happened , I enjoyed it at the beginning when it was truly about what he was seeing but then it just got repetitive. Don't really need to read this to get the jist of things , overall a fun series to read.
I've found myself drawn to YA science fiction lately - it just seems like there are more innovative, unique stories being written in that genre than in adult sci fi. I purchased this after reading Sanctum. It's a nice short story of a key meeting, told from the other character's point of view.
I absolutely loved the first two books in this series. My only complaint is that I wanted more from this book. I know it is just a short story, but I'm so in love with the characters that I want to know all about them. Great insight, but it could have delved deeper into the character. It left me feeling a little unsatisfied.
Captive is a short story from Malachi's perspective of the first time he met Lela. It was an interesting read. I wish it was a little longer but still worth the read.
